Bhutan Destinations

From the iconic valleys of Paro and Punakha to the remote reaches of Bumthang and Haa — Bhutan has much to discover.

Punakha

Punakha

Punakha is the ancient capital of Bhutan and home to one of the most magnificent dzongs in the Himalayas — Punakha Dzong, dramatically positioned at the confluence of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers. The Punakha Valley is warmer than much of Bhutan, lush with paddy fields, jacaranda trees in spring, and the Mo Chhu River perfect for whitewater rafting.

Phobjikha Valley

Phobjikha Valley

Phobjikha Valley is a broad glacial valley on the western slopes of the Black Mountains, famous as the winter home of the endangered Black-necked Crane. From November to March, these graceful birds migrate from the Tibetan plateau, making this one of the most memorable wildlife experiences in Bhutan.

Haa Valley

Haa Valley

Haa Valley is one of Bhutan's most remote and least-visited valleys, offering a deeply authentic travel experience. Flanked by snow-capped peaks and dense pine forests, Haa is home to traditional villages, sacred lakes, ancient monasteries, and the twin dzongs.

Bumthang

Bumthang

Bumthang is the spiritual heartland of Bhutan — a collection of four valleys filled with ancient temples, sacred sites, and alpine landscapes. Many of Bhutan's oldest monasteries are found here, along with buckwheat fields and a warm, deeply traditional way of life.

Paro

Paro

Paro is Bhutan's most iconic valley, home to the legendary Tiger's Nest Monastery perched 900 metres above the valley floor. The Paro Valley stretches along a clear river, dotted with ancient farmhouses, apple orchards, and the majestic Paro Dzong. A gateway for most international visitors, Paro is the starting point of many Bhutan journeys.

Thimphu

Thimphu

Thimphu is the capital and largest city of Bhutan — a rare capital without traffic lights, blending traditional Bhutanese architecture with a modern, relaxed pace of life. Home to the National Memorial Chorten, Buddha Dordenma, Tashichho Dzong, and vibrant weekend markets, Thimphu offers a fascinating window into contemporary Bhutanese culture.
